Ahead of the UNOC 3 Conference to be held in Nice from June 9–13, 2025, and in partnership with Université Côte d’Azur, Sorbonne Université, and the French Network of Marine Universities, the First International Forum of Marine Universities will be organized.
This International Forum will bring together representatives from universities around the world with the aim of « Strengthening knowledge transmission and education to improve scientific training and raise public awareness of ocean challenges. »
At the heart of the meeting, three international panels will engage in discussions on:
- Interdisciplinarity in ocean studies
- Universities and the blue economy
- Strengthening marine science education processes
These discussions will culminate in a final joint declaration and recommendations addressed to the UN Ocean Conference (UNOC).
The Forum is primarily open to university representatives and stakeholders closely connected to the academic system, with additional participants welcomed based on availability.
