The number of beaches that are monitored and are suitable for swimming for 2024 is 231 sites. In order to fully succeed this summer season, Abdelouafi Laftit, Minister of the Interior, has initiated anticipatory measures which will be accompanied by regular monitoring on site. bdelouafi Laftit, Minister of the Interior, has just sent a letter to the walis and governors in the different regions of the Kingdom in order to ensure, through anticipatory action, the safety and cleanliness of the beaches and put an end to the whole forms of nuisance, whatever they may be, on the sites.
In a response to an oral question, Tuesday May 28, 2024, before the advisers of the Second Chamber of Parliament, the minister also underlined: “The beaches should be respected, open and constitute sites of attraction for tourists », he indicated, specifying that « the number of beaches which are subject to surveillance and which are suitable for swimming for the year 2024 is 231 », relays Al Ahdath Al Maghribia of this Thursday May 30, 2024.
In order to prepare for the summer season as best as possible, explained the minister, “the ministry intends to strengthen the first aid teams, by recruiting 3,315 lifeguards and first aides, and to put in place the necessary equipment for monitoring swimming in the various sites, in with a view to ensuring safe and peaceful swimming.
The Minister of the Interior also revealed that “partnership agreements had been concluded between the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministries of Transport and Logistics, Equipment and Water, as well as that of Tourism, with a view to financing and supporting the ‘clean beaches ‘ program and improving summering conditions at all levels.
A budget of 685 million dirhams was allocated to this program, explained Abdelouafi Laftit, who also reported to the advisers of the Second Chamber of Parliament that “the ‘Blue Flag’ label had been awarded to 27 beaches”.
Al Ahdath Al Maghribia also reports that the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection has launched environmental activities, in order to promote the values of environmental education.
