On Wednesday in Dakhla, French start-up Airseas inaugurated a test and research center for the decarbonization of maritime transport. The company, which specializes in the development of wind-powered technologies for maritime propulsion, has set up the facility in the commune of El Argoub (60 km from Dakhla), an investment that marks a key step in the decarbonization of global shipping.

The project required an investment of 50 million DH. Covering 80 hectares, the structure features advanced facilities for testing and optimizing the « Seawing », a 1,000 m² automated wing designed to reduce ship fuel consumption by 20%. This innovative system uses automated piloting by artificial intelligence to optimize trajectory and maximize efficiency, all the more so as it is quick to install and adaptable to various types of vessel. The site includes a 2,400 m² hangar, with mechanical and electronic workshops, as well as a Command Center simulating navigation conditions.
