While crossing the Atlantic Ocean in his small rowing boat, extreme athlete Tom Waddington had the encounter of a lifetime: he was surrounded by over 1,000 whales. Here’s how it happened.
As you can see in the video above, Tom Waddington was followed by over 1,000 whales for hours as he rowed his small boat across the Atlantic Ocean. “Wow, this is really cool,” he said. “I love it, but I’m afraid they’ll hit my rudder.”
The extreme athlete added: “They’re so close I can hear them. They’re blowing bubbles, look! What fun. I’ve seen a lot of whales. They just came to say hello. I’m invigorated after feeling depressed because of the rain this morning. They were just playing and passing under the boat while I took videos (…) I’ve been rowing with thousands of whales for two hours now.”
