Station de dessalement de Sfax : La mise au point du ministère de l’Agriculture

The Ministry of Agriculture, Hydraulic Resources and Fisheries said on Tuesday that the Sfax desalination plant was operating normally and without interruption.

In a press release issued on Tuesday evening, the Ministry denied reports circulating on social networks that the plant had been interrupted, which were “false and unfounded allegations”.

The first unit of the Sfax seawater desalination plant went into production on Monday, with a capacity of 25,000 cubic meters per day.

The central director of the Sfax desalination plant, Mohamed Zaara, told the TAP agency: “The other three units of the plant should successively enter the contractual experimental operation phase, with the same capacity as the first unit”.

He added that the plant will enter the contractual experimental operation phase with its four units at the beginning of September, with a capacity of 100,000 cubic meters per day.

“In the second phase of the project, 250,000 cubic meters per day will be programmed to supply water not only to Grand Sfax, but also to all neighboring municipalities,” said Mr. Zaara.
