Algeria Pursues Its Ambition to Become a Strategic Hub in Maritime Transport in the Mediterranean
Algeria is continuing its ambition to become a strategic hub in the maritime transport sector in the Mediterranean. In this context, the Spanish shipping company Balearia has inaugurated a new line connecting Valencia, Spain, to Algiers, the capital of Algeria. This development marks an important step in maritime relations between the two countries and confirms Algeria’s desire to enhance its attractiveness in trade and tourism exchanges.
Balearia, which has already been operating a route between Valencia and Mostaganem since 2016, has taken a significant step by launching this new weekly route. « Today is a great day! This afternoon, we started the weekly service of the new Valencia-Algiers route, linking Spain for the first time to the capital of Algeria, » the company announced in a statement posted on its official Facebook page.
The opening of this maritime line between Valencia and Algiers is a response to the growing demand for exchanges between Algeria and Spain while consolidating economic and cultural ties between the two countries. This weekly service will offer new opportunities for passengers and freight, thus facilitating travel and trade between the two shores of the Mediterranean. This development is part of a broader context in which Algeria seeks to diversify its trade partnerships, particularly with Europe, and to increase its role in regional maritime trade.
