Aperçu de l’image

The Fondation BNP Paribas is launching the 6th edition of its “Climate & Biodiversity Initiative” to support 7 to 15 groundbreaking scientific projects under the UN Ocean Decade (2021-2030), focused on preserving the ocean and coastal ecosystems.

💡 Why focus on the ocean?
Ocean acidification, coastal erosion, overfishing… The ocean, essential for climate regulation, is under significant threat, while over 3.8 billion people depend on these ecosystems for their livelihoods and food security.

💡 An ambitious call for projects
👉 Dates: From January 21 to May 4, 2025
👉 Total funding: €7 million over three years
👉 Eligibility: Scientific research projects (fundamental or applied) conducted from Europe

🏅 Recognized impact: This edition is particularly meaningful, as it has been awarded the “Decade of Ocean” label by UNESCO‘s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission. This recognition highlights the critical role of science in addressing global environmental challenges.

💬 As isabelle giordano, Head of Group Philanthropy and General Delegate of the BNP Paribas Foundation, notes:
« Philanthropy is a key lever for change. By supporting scientists, this initiative allows us to contribute to the preservation of our ocean and coastal ecosystems. »
