SÉCURITÉ MARITIME | Tenue de l'exercice Recoport ESA 25

As part of the Safe Seas Africa project, Madagascar hosted the launch of the Recoport Esa 25 exercise on January 27 to strengthen maritime security and promote regional cooperation through information sharing.

This event, bringing together key maritime stakeholders such as the Regional Maritime Information Fusion Center (RMIFC) and the Port Management Association of Eastern and Southern Africa (PMAESA), was held under the supervision of the Minister of Transport and Meteorology, Valérie Ramonjavelo.

« Ports are the beating hearts of our economies and catalysts for development. Their security and resilience are shared responsibilities, » stated Minister Valérie Ramonjavelo. The event also highlighted the importance of information sharing for port security. « The southern Indian Ocean region is a strategic area, with 80% of global maritime oil and 9.84 billion tons of goods transiting annually, » the ministry reported. Strengthening maritime security can only enhance commercial competitiveness.

Encouraging Cooperation Among Countries

Cooperation between PMAESA member countries and maritime security centers, such as the Regional Maritime Information Fusion Center (RMIFC), is essential to ensure a safe and stable maritime environment, demonstrating Madagascar and its partners’ commitment to sustainable development and regional stability.
