During the New Year’s reception of the Hérault Méditerranée Community of Agglomeration, held at the sports hall of Bessan in mid-January, the community unveiled its new partnership with the association Project Rescue Ocean, led by Bessan native Benoît Schumann.
The local hero was invited to take the stage as his organization, recognized in France, abroad, and by UNESCO, is celebrating its tenth anniversary.
Benoît Schumann officially signed an agreement around the « clean box, » a waste-cleaning box.
This is a half-sized shipping container containing all the necessary tools for efficient environmental cleaning. Equipment (bags, tongs), waste weighing, sorting… everything has been thought out so that associations, schools, and even businesses wishing to organize a clean-up operation can find everything they need in this box, which will be delivered to the requested location.

A first in France and a great source of pride for this firefighter, currently on leave.
Project Rescue Ocean has finalized this project to provide resources for action in the twenty municipalities of the agglomeration. The association funds part of the equipment and its supply through the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) line of several local companies, interested in the initiative and the values it represents.
As the mayor stated, Bessan is proud that this presentation took place in the town where Benoît grew up.
