Built from an aluminum alloy, the 27-meter-long vessel has a rounded shape to allow its hull to withstand the pressure of the ice it will get trapped in, serving as a drifting observatory and laboratory. It can accommodate a crew of 12 to 18 people, including sailors for navigation and, most importantly, scientists.

The station must follow the drift of the ice to take samples in the heart of the central Arctic during the polar winter.

The goal is to increase the number of eighteen-month expeditions so that the station will drift continuously for twenty years.
