On Thursday, May 15 at 6 p.m., the book launch of Today the Ocean by Romain Troublé will take place at the bookstore of the National Maritime Museum in Paris-Trocadéro.

Romain Troublé was not born an environmental activist—he became one. A child of both mountains and the sea, he is now the Managing Director of the Tara Ocean Foundation. With his teams, he works to support oceanic scientific research and to raise awareness among the public and decision-makers about the urgent need to protect ocean life—the planet’s largest carbon sink and a crucial pillar of Earth’s balance.

Through often adventurous journeys—from the depths of remote Siberia in search of mammoths trapped in permafrost, to the heart of Antarctica aboard a single-engine Antonov 3 flight, or sailing on the schooner Tara—he became increasingly aware of the impact of human activity on our planet and the alarming decline of biodiversity.

In this powerful and far-reaching narrative, Romain Troublé traces the path of his commitment and shares how he became one of the leading voices advocating for the ocean’s future.
