The IFRECOR Award (Palme IFRECOR) was created to highlight local initiatives led or supported by elected officials that contribute to the protection of coral ecosystems—including coral reefs, seagrass beds, and mangroves. Elected officials in overseas territories play a key role in the sustainable management and preservation of these ecosystems and can truly make a difference.
Since 2011, the IFRECOR Award has been spotlighting exemplary actions and public policies aimed at protecting and sustainably managing coral reefs and associated ecosystems in the French overseas territories. By showcasing best practices implemented by biodiversity stakeholders and elected officials, the award promotes knowledge-sharing, the dissemination of experience, and the replication of successful actions across different regions.
