Montassar Dhiaf, President of the Professional Association of Nautical Industries at CONECT, stated that the 2026 Finance Bill does not include any fiscal or incentive measures in favor of the maritime industries sector, even though Tunisia is the leading country in Africa in the manufacturing of yachts and tuna fishing vessels.
He revealed that celebrities from around the world have chosen Tunisia to build their yachts, including football star Cristiano Ronaldo, who purchased a Tunisian-built yacht in Menzel Jemil, in the Bizerte Governorate.
Montassar Dhiaf explained that Tunisian maritime industries now cover the manufacturing of pleasure boats, military vessels, and fishing ships.
He added that since 2015, Tunisia has been producing 100% Tunisian military ships, and has also entered the field of constructing remotely controlled smart vessels for coastal protection.
