According to IFM correspondent in Nabeul governorate, Montassar Sassi, the “El Fatha” beach, well known in the city of Kelibia, has undergone a major change in its geographical nature. It has shifted from a sandy beach characterized by its golden الرمال to a rocky shoreline, as a result of severe coastal erosion caused by powerful waves over the past few days.

“El Fatha” beach is considered one of the most popular and attractive beaches for holidaymakers and visitors, thanks to its distinctive location and the beauty of its sands. However, the strength of the waves and the rising sea level have led to the erosion of large stretches of sand, exposing the rocks beneath, in an unusual scene that has sparked surprise and concern among local residents and beachgoers.

Several residents of the area have expressed their fears about the impact of this change on the upcoming tourist season and on beach-related activities, in addition to potential environmental risks that could worsen if the phenomenon of coastal erosion continues without urgent intervention.

Specialists suggest that this phenomenon is likely linked to climate variability and rapid weather changes, along with other natural factors affecting the coastline.

This situation has once again brought to the forefront calls for the implementation of sustainable solutions to protect coastlines—especially in environmentally and tourist-sensitive areas—through coastal management projects and protective barriers aimed at reducing beach erosion and preserving the region’s natural and economic resources.
