Tunisia was unanimously elected by African countries to occupy a seat in the contact group responsible for defining the political orientations and activities of the Intergovernmental Science-Political Forum on Chemicals, Waste and Pollution, for the intersession period.

This decision was taken during the opening session of the first plenary session of the Forum, held on Monday, February 2 in Geneva, under the presidency of Chile.

The Tunisian delegation, composed of members of the permanent mission of Tunisia in Geneva and a representative of the Ministry of the Environment, is taking part in the work of the Forum, which will continue until February 6.

The purpose of this session is to finalize several key documents, including the rules of procedure for the plenary sessions, the procedures for drawing up and presenting the Group’s scientific reports, the composition of its office for the next meeting, as well as the related financial provisions.

According to the permanent representation of Tunisia in Geneva, this mission will allow the country to actively contribute to the direction of future international scientific actions and policies on the management of chemicals, waste and pollution.
