Saly-Escale — A fish farm in the municipality of Saly-Escale collected 100 kilos of fish on Friday, which gives hope to the National Aquaculture Agency (ANA), about the future of fish farming in the Kaffrine region (center).
The harvest took place in Khosenanou, a village that is part of this municipality.
The farmers of the fish pond benefited from the support of the ANA, according to the head of the regional service in Kaffrine of this agency, Awa Kandé Sène, who took part in the harvest.
« We harvested 100 kilos of fish, » she said in the presence of the fish pond operators and the notables of Khosenanou.
According to Ms. Sène, this harvest confirms the ability of fish farming to develop in this region and to contribute to the country’s food sovereignty.
The fish farmers of Khosenanou have benefited from the support of the Integrated Nutrition and Gender Project in Senegal and the National Council for the Development of Nutrition, said the head of the regional service of the National Aquaculture Agency.
Fish farmers wanted easy access to fish feed in order to increase their production.
