A draft maritime and commercial cooperation agreement is being finalized between the Autonomous Port of Abidjan and the Port of Santos, the main port of Brazil and one of the most important in Latin America.
This information was delivered by the Acting Director General of the Autonomous Port of Abidjan (PAA), Mr. Kassoum Traore, during an audience granted on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, to a Brazilian delegation led by the Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of Brazil in Cote d’Ivoire, within the framework of strengthening maritime and port cooperation relations between Africa and South America.
This diplomatic meeting took place during the stopover in the port of Abidjan of the Brazilian warship « ARAGUARI P122 », thus illustrating the growing dynamic of exchanges between the two countries in the port, maritime and security fields.
Mr. Kassoum Traore also highlighted the significant logistical and operational capabilities of the Port of Abidjan, a leading port and multimodal hub in West Africa, with modern infrastructure connected to the main corridors serving the sub-regional hinterland.
He noted that the Port of Abidjan is actively pursuing its modernization efforts in order to consolidate its attractiveness and competitiveness internationally.
In this perspective, he mentioned the draft maritime and commercial cooperation agreement currently being finalized between the Autonomous Port of Abidjan and the Port of Santos, the main port of Brazil and one of the most important in Latin America.
It should be noted that this partnership aims in particular to promote the exchange of experiences, the development of trade flows, as well as the sharing of expertise in the port, logistics and maritime fields.
