The work of the 7th Ministerial Meeting of the African Atlantic States Process (AEAP) opened this Monday in Cotonou, Benin, under the co-presidency of the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Benin. This strategic meeting aims to consolidate cooperation between African countries on the coast of the Atlantic and to strengthen regional integration, in accordance with the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, for an African Atlantic space of peace, stability and shared prosperity.
The Moroccan delegation is led by Mohamed Methqal, ambassador and director general of the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI). It also includes Tarik Iziraren, Permanent Secretary of the PEAA, Rachid Rguibi, Moroccan Ambassador to Benin, as well as several officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad.
Since its launch in Rabat in June 2022, the African Atlantic States Process has taken several major stages, including the creation of a Permanent Secretariat in Rabat, the establishment of thematic working groups and the adoption of an action program focused on political dialogue, maritime safety, the blue economy, connectivity, energy transition and protection of the marine environment.
After the meetings organized in Rabat, New York and Praia, the Cotonou meeting marks a new step in strengthening coordination between Member States to promote sustainable development, better governance of maritime areas and beneficial co-development for the entire African Atlantic front.
