Thirty (30) rural women from several municipalities in the Annaba region have benefited from training in integrated fish farming within agriculture as part of a training program jointly developed by the Rural Women’s Cell, the Directorate of Agricultural Services (DSA), and the local School of Technical Training in Fishing and Aquaculture, according to Rym Chellali, representative of the Rural Women’s Cell.
In a statement to APS, Mrs. Chellali indicated that this training, led by trainers from the School of Technical Training in Fishing and Aquaculture, covered both theoretical and practical aspects of integrated fish farming, including a hands-on introduction to stocking fish ponds with fish fry. The three-day training provided participants with information on the various fish species involved in this activity, their development stages, and the positive impact of these ponds on improving agricultural yields, it was noted. The session also highlighted investment opportunities available to rural women in this field and the support programs set up to launch micro-enterprises in this area.
The rural municipalities of the region, including Tréat and Oued Aneb, are showing significant interest in integrated fish farming within agriculture, it was mentioned. The training program for rural women in Annaba also includes the organization of additional sessions on entrepreneurship and investment in rural areas, it was emphasized.
