Abidjan, April 16, 2025 – The Ivorian government, through the Ministry of Animal and Fisheries Resources (MIRAH), in partnership with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), is inviting potential investors to seize the opportunities offered by the Blue Economy in Côte d’Ivoire.

In this regard, a Blue Economy Investment Forum will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at the Sofitel Hotel Ivoire in Abidjan. This high-level event will serve as a platform for exchanges between national authorities, technical and financial partners, development banks, and private sector actors.

The forum aims to highlight the growth potential of sectors related to the Blue Economy and underscore their strategic role in the diversification and structural transformation of the Ivorian economy.

« The Blue Economy sector is promising, but it remains little known in Côte d’Ivoire. Through this forum, we aim to present investment opportunities in areas such as aquaculture, lagoon and river transport, tourism, and eco-tourism, among others, » said Joseph Nyemah, FAO Representative in Côte d’Ivoire.

The Blue Economy encompasses all economic activities related to oceans, seas, lagoons, lakes, rivers, and coastal areas. It covers a wide range of sectors: fishing, aquaculture, maritime and river transport, coastal tourism, marine resource exploitation, blue biotechnology, as well as the protection and restoration of aquatic ecosystems.

Beyond the mere exploitation of resources, the Blue Economy relies on an integrated vision that aims to stimulate economic growth while ensuring the sustainability of aquatic environments and improving the living conditions of local populations.

In a global context marked by climate change and growing pressure on natural resources, the Blue Economy stands out as a strategic opportunity for coastal countries. It not only offers a way to diversify sources of growth but also strengthens food security and creates sustainable jobs, particularly for youth and women.
