The establishment and management of protected areas to develop aquaculture and fishing have been successful. In just three years, over 1,200 fishermen, after undergoing extensive training, received professional licenses, allowing them to expand their activities in fish production. This was highlighted during the signing of a new partnership agreement between the Ministry of Fisheries and the Blue Economy and the Community-Centered Conservation program (C3). The C3 program operates in the Nosy Hara protected area, in the northern part of the island, where it has already helped develop local aquaculture activities.
Since the launch of the program in 2021, we have provided cooperatives and local protection committees with nine motorized boats, along with more than four hundred other materials, including fishing equipment, » said Fara Rabemamy, Program Manager of the C3 program, yesterday at MPEB Ampandrianomby, during the signing of the new partnership agreement.
