Chafik Ayadi, a civil society activist in Sfax, appeared today, Monday July 29, 2024, on Express FM radio on the “Expresso” program.
The guest revealed that the current environmental situation in Sfax is “quasi-stable” after the sudden closure of the Ghedir El Golla dump and the start of operations at the Teniour site. Stressing the need to transform the latter into a waste recovery center, he called for “exceptional” solutions and regulations to be found as soon as possible to create an ecological city in Teniour.
On the subject of “berbachas”, those who make a living from collecting and selling waste, Mr. Ayadi called on the State to establish a sorting system adopting sorting at source or selective sorting, which could facilitate their work and their integration into the economic cycle.
While praising the efforts of the Ministry of the Environment for its sorting system, which he said was a step in the right direction, he called for private investment in this field to accelerate the pace of collection and recycling, making the process more efficient.
