The Minister of Local Development and Acting Minister of the Environment, Manal Awad, reviewed with a delegation from the World Bank the latest developments in cooperation on ecological transition and the blue economy.

Also present at this meeting were Ms. Galina Andronova-Vinslet, Vice President of the World Bank for Regional Operations and Policies, Mr. Stefan Guemper, Director of the WB for Egypt, Yemen and Djibouti, and Ms. Maria Saraf, Director of the Environment for the Middle East and North Africa region.

Ms. Awad praised the cooperation with the World Bank in the implementation of the Great Cairo Air Pollution and Climate Change Management Project, describing it as a pioneering project in Egypt, tackling a major challenge: air pollution.

This project, she said, aims to reduce sources of pollution and mitigate the effects of climate change, warming on achievements made with, among other things, projects that contribute to reducing air pollution and serving the public, such as the integrated solid waste management project of the city of 10 Ramadan and the electric bus project being integrated into the public transport system.
