📍 SAINT JOSEPH UNIVERSITY OF BEIRUT – Innovation and Sports Campus Hall
As part of “The Year of the Sea” in France and in anticipation of the Third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC 25) to be held in Nice in June 2025, the French Embassy in Lebanon / Institut Français du Liban and Saint Joseph University of Beirut, in collaboration with The Diane Foundation Chair for Sustainable Development (CEEDD) and the National Council for Scientific Research in Lebanon (CNRS-L), are pleased to present the exhibition « Oceans and Plasticized Seas. »
The opening ceremony will be attended by Mr. Hervé Magro, French Ambassador to Lebanon, Prof. Salim Daccache s.j., Rector of USJ, and Ms. Tamara El Zein, Minister of Environment.
Designed by the French association Expédition MED, this educational and scientific exhibition highlights the challenges of plastic pollution and its devastating impact on marine flora and fauna. With over 100,000 visitors in France, Morocco, and Algeria, « Oceans and Plasticized Seas » has already raised awareness among a wide audience about pressing environmental issues, particularly concerning the marine ecosystem.
The exhibition has been enriched with an exclusive section focusing on plastic pollution in Lebanon, illustrated by the works of Lebanese exhibition curator Ralph Doumit. This local perspective aims to question our collective and individual responsibility in addressing plastic pollution and to encourage long-term environmental awareness.
