The government of Japan donated to Tunisia two ships costing around 1.2 billion Japanese yen, the equivalent of around 25 million dinars, these ships will carry out surveillance operations on the coasts Tunisian authorities, in accordance with national and international control requirements.

These vessels will provide the General Directorate of Fisheries and Aquaculture with its own means to control and monitor Tunisian-flagged fishing boats and promote the sustainable management of fishery resources in Tunisian waters.

“This donation project consolidates the technical support that JICA had previously provided towards the realization of this initiative, in collaboration with the MARHP,” underlines JICA.

An inauguration ceremony for these two ships will take place on February 27, 2024 at the port of La Goulette. During the inauguration ceremony, a test sailing of the boat is planned.
