From Nice to Bizerte: How Is the Mediterranean doing?
Following the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference (June 2–13), the 8th edition of le Forum Mondial de la Mer- Bizerte, co-organized by La Saison Bleue and the Blue
Mission Med, seeks to assess the health of the Mediterranean in the wake of the Nice Commitments for the Ocean.

What are the implications of the commitments made in Nice, as well as the upcoming negotiations on the Plastic Treaty in Geneva this August, for this uniquely significant maritime basin? How do these developments influence the challenges and opportunities—from governance and scientific advice to the blue economy, finance, combating illegal fishing, pollution (notably plastic waste), and the far-reaching impacts of climate change?

Which Mediterranean countries are leading the way in biodiversity protection, and
which are lagging behind? How is Europe, particularly through initiatives like Blue
Mission Med, supporting these efforts? As the Barcelona Convention marks its 50th anniversary with the adoption of an ambitious political declaration by its 22 signatory parties, what will be the impact on coastal communities, civil society, and the economic sector? And most importantly, how can we ensure that these commitments translate into tangible, measurable actions?
