Co-produced by L’avis des rêves, L’Astrada Marciac, and Jazzèbre, Océans Infinis will be divided into two parts this Saturday evening. The evening will begin with a musical journey led by the duo Sophie Bernado and Céline Grangey, a bassoonist-singer and sound engineer, respectively.

Together, they will present a captivating work created from recordings of marine sounds: whale songs, orca and dolphin calls, and even coral rustling. This raw sound material, collected during residencies and expeditions, becomes the foundation for an innovative musical composition.

The duo, known as Lila Bazooka, has been exploring the boundaries of sound creation for several years. Since its formation in 2019, the duo has sought to push the limits of the bassoon, a wind instrument.
With Océans Infinis, they continue their work on sound spatialization and the use of field recording, offering an immersive and poetic experience to the audience while raising awareness about the fragility of marine ecosystems.
The Abyss Revealed by Science? The second part of the evening is entrusted to Michel Segonzac, a renowned oceanographer, who will give a fascinating lecture titled « Expedition into the Abyss: The Mysterious Fauna of the Deep Sea. »
The exploration of the abyss, still largely unknown, is one of the greatest scientific and technological adventures of the 21st century. The biologist will present the current state of knowledge about the functioning of major deep-sea ecosystems. He will share the latest discoveries on these extreme ecosystems, such as hydrothermal vents and their unique forms of life.
The audience will also learn fascinating anecdotes about marine biodiversity, such as how animals adapt to extreme conditions and the mysteries surrounding legendary creatures like the giant squid.

A Large-Scale Project
A product of collaboration between artists and scientists, Océans Infinis is an ambitious project that raises awareness about both the beauty and the fragility of the oceans. In addition to Michel Segonzac, the scientific team includes global ecology researcher Jean-Yves Georges and education sciences specialist Raphaël Chalmeau.
