Morocco, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, has always been committed to promoting efficient, secure, and sustainable maritime mobility, stated the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdessamad Kayouh, on Monday in Marrakech.
At the opening of the 48th Annual Interferry Conference in Marrakech, Morocco’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdessamad Kayouh, through an address read by the ministry’s Secretary General Khalid Cherkaoui, affirmed Morocco’s strong commitment to safe and sustainable maritime mobility, under the guidance of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
Mr. Kayouh highlighted the strategic importance of the ferry industry in global maritime transport, emphasizing that Morocco, as a gateway to Africa, aspires to serve as a development model in the maritime sector, particularly in ferry transportation. Acknowledging environmental challenges, he stressed the critical role of the global maritime community in reducing carbon emissions and promoting cleaner, more sustainable transport solutions.
He also underscored Morocco’s investments in port infrastructure, notably the Tangier Med Port, one of the largest ports in Africa and the Mediterranean. These investments reflect the Kingdom’s ambition to position itself as a key player in global maritime transport.
The event, which continues until October 30, provides Morocco with the opportunity to strengthen its position in the maritime sector. The conference program includes plenary sessions on safety and sustainability, with special attention to maritime security in Africa, which will be discussed in a dedicated seminar on October 30.
