A consortium dedicated to strategic thinking and collective action in favor of decarbonization in Tunisia has just been launched by the Tunisian Women Network for Energy Transition (TWNET), in partnership with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF).
This initiative aims to bring together institutional, economic, technical and civil society actors to support the transition to a low-carbon development model, in line with Tunisia’s national priorities and international climate commitments.
The FNF and TWNET intend, through this collaborative framework, to actively contribute to the emergence of realistic, inclusive solutions adapted to the Tunisian context, the Foundation said in a statement issued on Sunday.
At the launch of the consortium, a brainstorming meeting was held to lay the foundations of a structured cooperation framework, to identify priority levers for action and to promote a multisectoral dialogue based on the sharing of expertise and best practices.
TWNET is a network of women in energy that was launched on February 28, 2025, in Tunis, by the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
Dedicated to connecting, inspiring and strengthening women in the energy sector in Tunisia, this network offers a space for exchange and professional development to promote a more inclusive and sustainable energy transition.
It should be noted that Tunisia is working, as part of its international commitments, to fight against global warming and energy-related crises to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions in all sectors and reduce carbon intensity by 45% by 2030.
