A working session was held on Monday under the supervision of the Minister of Equipment and Housing, Salah Zouari, to examine the difficulties hindering progress on the Mahdia fishing port development project.

The meeting, organized by the Directorate-General of Air and Maritime Services—acting as delegated project owner on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Fisheries—provided an opportunity to assess the pace of project implementation.

According to the findings presented, the project is advancing at a slow pace due to administrative and technical issues, as well as disputes and delays involving the company in charge of the works. These difficulties have directly impacted the initial timeline for modernizing the port.

Solutions to Relaunch the Project

Participants in the meeting explored several avenues to accelerate project execution, with the aim of overcoming obstacles and ensuring the expected pace of progress is restored.

Operational proposals were discussed, particularly to improve coordination between the various stakeholders and strengthen technical monitoring.

Minister Salah Zouari emphasized the need to quickly find concrete solutions, underlining the strategic importance of the Mahdia port for the region’s economy and fishing activities.
