As part of the policy of support and encouragement of investment in the maritime fishing and aquaculture sector, the Director General of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Miloud Tria, received on Monday in Algiers a delegation of Saudi and Chinese investors interested in carrying out structuring projects in the fields of marine and continental aquaculture, the Directorate of Fisheries and Aquaculture said in a statement on Monday.
Investment opportunities in the marine aquaculture and freshwater aquaculture sectors were widely discussed at this meeting, with a particular focus on the benefits granted to certain species of high economic value, including the royal scay, sea bass and red tilapia, said the Directorate of Fisheries and Aquaculture.
The prospects for the development of aquaculture in the medium and long term were also at the heart of this meeting, highlighting the importance of strengthening nursery activities and the study of projects in the field of shrimp farming.
In addition, the possibility of creating industrial units dedicated to the production of sea fishing equipment was examined, with the aim of strengthening industrial integration and consolidating the production chain, said the same source.
On this occasion, those responsible highlighted the significant potential available to the sector, all sectors combined, as well as the incentive measures adopted by the State to promote investment.
These investors thus have shown their interest in investing, given the opportunities offered by this sector and the advantages granted by the public authorities. They reaffirmed « their willingness to realize investment projects in Algeria, believing that the sector benefits from promising prospects and a favorable investment climate ».
The meeting was held in the presence of representatives of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA), as well as executives of the Directorate-General for Maritime Fisheries and Aquaculture. The meeting was also marked by the presentation of a detailed presentation on the state of play and development prospects of the sector in Algeria.
