Next June, the French Riviera capital will host the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference, a global event that will bring together heads of state and government, along with more than 20,000 researchers, scientists, association leaders, and institutional actors to forge a historic agreement for the protection of the Ocean.

For Christian Estrosi: « Art and artists play a vital role in this mission. That’s why the 2025 Biennale of Arts program will be entirely dedicated to the ocean. In parallel with the United Nations World Summit, it aims to reach the minds and hearts of all, from residents of the Metropolis to visitors from around the world, to help raise awareness and persuade that the future of the ocean depends on us. »

From April to October 2025, the 6th edition of the Nice Biennale, titled « The Sea Around Us, » will offer an ambitious program that will explore different aspects of our relationship with the ocean through an artistic and cultural odyssey across time and collective imaginations.

Eleven exhibitions will be proposed by the City’s museums, the 109, and Villa Arson:

  • From Prehistoric Men to the Beach, at the Terra Amata Prehistoric Museum;
  • When the Sea Speaks, Studying and Protecting Underwater Heritage, at the Nice Cimiez Archaeological Museum;
  • Nice, from the Shore to the Sea, at the Villa Masséna, which explores the unique relationship between the City and the sea;
