On Wednesday, October 9, the selection committee for the European « Fisheries and Aquaculture » funds, chaired by Mr. Pierre Martinez, convened at the town hall of Grau-du-Roi, with the presence of Mayor Dr. Robert Crauste.

The committee reviewed three projects for their feasibility:

  1. City of Fishing and Fishermen Phase 2: Creation of an interpretive trail led by the municipality of Grau-du-Roi.
  2. Experimentation of the Antifouling ROV: A submersible drone for cleaning boat hulls, co-led by the OP du Sud and the company Greenov.
  3. Creation of a Film on the Fishermen’s Prud’homies of Occitanie: A project highlighting intangible cultural heritage, spearheaded by the Prud’homie of Palavas Les Flots in partnership with the other 10 Prud’homies of Occitanie.

The committee selected three projects for the allocation of funds from the FEAMPA (European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund) and the Occitanie Region, amounting to a total of €91,124.56 in aid:

  1. Implementation of the Collective Quality Approach « Les Graulinades »: Led by the SPL Le Grau-du-Roi (€12,203.58).
  2. Replacement of the Engine and Propulsion System of the Lisieux: The last traditional fishing boat in operation, and the creation of communication tools led by the Association of Mediterranean Marine Traditions (€26,169.14).
  3. Hybridization of the Motors of the « Petits Métiers d’Occitanie » (HYPEMO): Phase 1 (Experimentation and Studies): Led by CEPRALMAR (€52,751.84).

All the projects received favorable reviews from the selection committee, demonstrating a commitment to enhancing sustainable fishing practices and preserving cultural heritage in the region.
