La Saison Bleue, in partnership with the National Maritime Museum, is launching the first edition of La Grande Marée, a festival entirely dedicated to the ocean, anchored in Paris.
From March 28 to 30, 2025, the National Maritime Museum, located at Place du Trocadéro in Paris, will host the inaugural edition of La Grande Marée. This free and open-to-all event will celebrate and showcase the ocean through the eyes, voices, and testimonies of a hundred personalities who will share their grand vision of the sea.
La Grande Marée is simple.
Paris, the capital of a country with the world’s second-largest maritime domain, deserved to welcome the Ocean, which the Seine meets 365 kilometers away. Every year, the sea will rise in Paris on the weekend of the highest spring tide.
In 2025, the bar is set high. With a record tidal coefficient of 114 along our coasts between March 28 and 30, La Grande Marée will be filled with breathtaking images and emotions.
By the river, facing the Eiffel Tower, within the magnificent spaces of the newly renovated National Maritime Museum, men and women of the sea—from France and beyond—artists, sailors, writers, scientists, divers, adventurers, and renowned journalists will take us on a deep dive into the ocean.
To close this first edition in an exceptional way, and in this year when France will host the United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice in June, the Eiffel Tower will be illuminated in blue at around 8 PM on Sunday, March 30.
A historic first: La Grande Marée in Paris and the Eiffel Tower in the colors of our blue planet.
All conferences, meetings, and book signings are free to attend.
The full program will be available from March 1.
Among the first confirmed speakers:
Laurent Ballesta, Sophie Beau, Maxime Blondeau, Catherine Chabaud, Sylvia Earle, Lamya Essemlali, Jean-Louis Etienne, Jean-Yves Le Drian, Laure Limongi, Claire Nouvian, Christophe Ono-dit-Biot, Erik Orsenna, Bertrand Piccard, Olivier Poivre d’Arvor, Alexis Rosenfeld, François Sarano, Jacques Rougerie, Romain Troublé…
