As part of the cooperation between Libya and Tunisia in the fields of training and professional skill development, a delegation from the Libyan Ministry of Labor recently visited Tunisia. This mission allowed them to visit several institutions specializing in the maritime fishing sector.

According to a statement from the Libyan Government of National Unity, this visit follows a meeting between the Libyan Minister of Labor and Reintegration and his Tunisian counterpart in Social Affairs during his recent visit to Libya. The two sides discussed ways to develop bilateral cooperation in professional training, leveraging Tunisia’s advanced expertise and its reference training institutions in this field.

The visit included the Professional Training Center for Maritime Fishing in Sfax, where the delegation explored the programs and training cycles offered in various specialties related to maritime professions: navigation, mechanics, electricity, maritime fishing, maintenance, and operation of vessels, among other technical disciplines associated with the sector.

Discussions also focused on preparing and training Libyan trainers to strengthen human and technical capacities within specialized training centers under the Libyan Ministry, thereby facilitating knowledge transfer and the development of local skills.

This visit is part of the strategy of the Libyan Ministry of Labor, which aims to support and train young job seekers through advanced training programs tailored to labor market needs. It should be noted that the maritime fishing sector is considered a promising area in Libya, and it holds increasing importance for supporting the Libyan economy.
