Plan Bleu is organizing a restitution workshop dedicated to sustainable desalination in the Mediterranean. The event will take place online on September 3, 2025, and will be held in both French and English.
This workshop follows the scientific call for papers launched in late 2024, which aimed to gather academic and technical contributions on the challenges and opportunities of desalination in the region.
Objectives of the workshop:
- Present findings from the selected papers
- Foster dialogue among researchers, water experts, and institutional stakeholders
- Lay the groundwork for a structured conversation on sustainable desalination approaches and integrated water management
- Introduce an upcoming edited collective volume compiling the main contributions, to be published by the end of the year
The agenda will focus on four main themes:
- Global and environmental issues related to desalination
- Economic models and sustainable development
- Governance and regulatory tools
- Integrated approaches considering social and territorial dimensions
