Within 75 years, 75% of the world’s population will live less than 75 km from the coast. The conservation and sustainable use of the ocean and marine resources has become a critical challenge — especially for France, which holds the world’s second-largest maritime territory.
The year 2025 is a symbolic one for France: it has been declared the “Year of the Sea” and also marks the country’s hosting of the United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice this June.
