As of May 30, Quang Tri had 775 fishing vessels measuring 6 meters or more, all registered in accordance with regulations. The province also completed the registration of more than 300 fishing vessels categorized as the so-called “3 No’s” (not registered, not licensed, and no fishing permit).

Authorities have been raising awareness among fishermen to sign commitments to combat illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing at the Cua Viêt fishing port. All information related to registration, inspection, and issuing of fishing licenses has been integrated into the national fisheries database. The control of vessels entering and leaving ports remains a crucial step in the fight against IUU fishing.

According to Lê Văn Sỹ, a 48-year-old fisherman from Triệu Phong district, border guards have recently intensified awareness-raising and support efforts directed at boat owners to remind them of their obligations during port operations and at sea.

These efforts have helped fishermen better understand and strictly comply with current regulations. Regarding at-sea monitoring, 183 out of 186 fishing vessels in the province have been equipped with satellite tracking devices, representing a rate of over 98% (the remaining three are inactive).
