The maritime construction group Jan De Nul wishes to lay submarine cables between Morocco and Europe in order to transport renewable energy produced in North Africa, it announced on Monday.

To carry out his project, Jan De Nul joined forces with the Australian mining company Fortescue. The latter wishes to produce green hydrogen, ammonia and fertilizers in Morocco, in collaboration with the local company OCP, to then export them to Europe. For the export of green energy, cables connecting the two continents will also be necessary, said Jan De Nul and Fortescue. This is why the two companies signed a cooperation agreement on the transport of green energy from Morocco and North Africa to Europe.
