Photographer, director, screenwriter and producer Rodrigo Thome is first and foremost an ocean lover. Remembering the first time he visited an aquarium at the age of 8, he believes there’s nothing more effective for igniting a love of the ocean than being exposed to it, as it reminds us that we part of something bigger. Since then, he has dedicated his life to realising his main goal: Connecting humans with the ocean, its environment, and the amazing animals that live there.

It was his love of the ocean that first incited him to take pictures underwater in 1996, when he became a diving instructor. He realised that images could be a great way to change the way people see and understand marine life. 2/3nextchevron_leftpreviouschevron_right

Along with his photography work, Rodrigo has hosted, directed, written, and produced educational series, documentaries, and films about marine biodiversity; comprising exploring flooded caves, revealing sub-aquatic life, or raising awareness about some of the most incredible and endangered marine species. He encounters a diverse range of people in Brazil and worldwide through his work, who are protecting the ocean, coastlines, and marine life in their own contexts.

As a UNESCO Green Citizens Pathfinder, he offers his support by connecting the initiative with inspiring projects he meets through his projects, and bringing back insights and stories of interest to the UNESCO Green Citizens ecosystem.
