The skipper of the Imoca Macif Santé Prévoyance has decided not to take the start of the Imoca circuit this year, on medical advice, in order to devote himself fully to his recovery.

This Thursday, January 29, 2026, the Macif team announced a reorganization for the 2026 season of the Imoca circuit. Sailing solo offshore is now forbidden to me, » explains skipper Charlie Dalin. On medical advice, the winner of the 2024-2025 Vendée Globe – whose home port is in Concarneau (Finistère) – will not take part in the solo races this year in order to devote himself to his recovery. Not racing this season is a difficult decision, but necessary to focus on my health, » explains the skipper from Concarneau.

From this season, Sam Goodchild, Macif skipper for the period 2027-2030, will take the helm of the Imoca Macif Santé Prévoyance in the major events of the Imoca Globe Series, including the Route du Rhum Destination Guadeloupe.

Charlie Dalin remains fully involved in the Concarneau-based project. In 2026, he will continue his consulting missions with the design office in charge of the future Imoca, which is scheduled to be launched next year.
