The General Manager of the Sfax seawater desalination plant, Mohamed Zara, said today, Thursday, that « the intrusion of seawater into the plant yesterday, Tuesday, is a very important operation which required major work representing 30% of the total cost of the plant, estimated at 850 million dinars ».

During a telephone interview on the « Feet in the Water » program, Zara explained that « the next stages include disinfection, washing of canals and sand filters, and testing of pumps and equipment », adding that « the start of pumping desalinated water through the transport canals to the mixing and distribution sites is scheduled for the second half of July 2024.
