The Summer School on Ecosystem Regeneration and Ocean Culture will take place from September 22 to 26, 2025, on the Tremiti Islands, Italy. This five-day event aims to develop skills around the conservation, regeneration, monitoring, and scientific communication of Posidonia oceanica.

Learning objectives include:

  • Implementing conservation, restoration, and monitoring actions for seagrass beds and other coastal ecosystems
  • Developing effective scientific communication content and storytelling
  • Engaging with local institutions and stakeholders
  • Understanding the goals and actions of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science

A self-paced online module will be shared prior to the in-person activities on the Tremiti Islands. The on-site program will include presentations by various experts and speakers.
All activities will be conducted in English.

Target profiles:
15 young people from Mediterranean countries (EU and non-EU), enrolled in Master’s or PhD programs or young professionals in marine sciences, marine biology, conservation, ecology, or related fields. Candidates from other backgrounds may also be considered.

Selection criteria:

  • Gender balance
  • Geographic representation
  • Age: up to 35 years
  • Relevant education or experience

Participants will benefit from:

  • Shared-room accommodation
  • A complimentary social dinner
    Two scholarships funded by IOC-UNESCO will cover round-trip travel expenses for selected participants.
