Faced with climate challenges, renowned oceanographer and explorer Sylvia Earle delivers a message to younger generations at the One Ocean Science Congress in Nice, a partner event of Le Point ahead of the United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC-3).
She acknowledges the despair felt by youth in the face of global crises, but insists: knowledge is the key to optimism. « The worst would be not knowing the nature of the problems. We are the cause, but we can also be the solution. »
Earle laments that, without today’s knowledge, past mistakes have led to the massive exploitation of marine life. « We still have time, but not much. »
