A fishing boat sank off the coast of Teboulba, in the governorate of Monastir, while carrying five fishermen, Adnan Nakbi, head of the Teboulba Fishermen’s Union, confirmed.

According to information reported by Jawhara FM, only one fisherman managed to swim to Kurat Island, while four others remain missing. The missing fishermen are members of the same family—brothers and cousins—aged between 52 and 58.

The survivor is currently on the island, and local authorities have confirmed that he is in good condition and receiving all necessary assistance. Adnan Nakbi highlighted the anguish of the families of the missing fishermen, who are still awaiting news of their loved ones.

He called on regional and local authorities to step up the search operations that have been ongoing since yesterday.

As a reminder, eight volunteer fishing boats set out to sea today to assist in the search, accompanied by National Guard patrols, but no trace of the missing fishermen has yet been found.

Adnan Nakbi stressed the urgent need to deploy a helicopter to help locate the missing fishermen.
