Are We Heading Towards the End of Water?
Or at least, the end of easily accessible and affordable drinking water?

Until the recent droughts experienced by Europe and the United States, the world’s major powers tended to view water access issues as a problem mainly faced by poorer countries. However, due to climate change and overexploitation by human activities, half of the global population is now exposed to the scarcity of this vital resource.

Around the world, social tensions related to water access are increasingly felt. Until recently, water rarely made headlines in the media. Yet, its management should be at the top of the most critical issues. Solutions exist, but governments have fallen far behind. This book outlines the urgent actions to be taken before the ongoing disruption of the water cycle leads to catastrophic consequences.

Simon Porcher is a professor of management sciences at the University of Paris Panthéon-Assas. His research focuses on the management and pricing of public water services. He has authored several articles published in top academic journals and co-edited the collective book Facing the Challenges of Water Governance.
