During the Third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3) in Nice, the spotlight on June 10, 2025 will shine on our shared and cherished hashtags:
“The Mediterranean: One Sea, One Future”
The Varda Group, coordinator of the #LetsBeNicetotheOcean initiative, has been entrusted with organizing the civil society segment of Mediterranean Day at #UNOC3 — and there’s space for your voice to be heard.
In partnership with Giuseppe Di Carlo and a coalition of Mediterranean conservation experts and advocates, we have launched a survey to help shape a Mediterranean Civil Society Declaration. This declaration will be presented during the event to bring our region’s concerns, solutions, and hopes to the global stage.

Our Mediterranean is in crisis: it is warming fast, overexploited, polluted, and under-protected. Yet, it remains an extraordinary ecological and cultural treasure. This is our chance to come together and speak with one united voice.

Mediterranean Day at #UNOC3 is sponsored by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs (Mediterranean Affairs Directorate) and will take place all day at the Centre Universitaire Méditerranéen.
