The Ocean Revealed Through Art and Science at CENTQUATRE-PARIS

CENTQUATRE-PARIS offers a unique immersive journey into the world of the Ocean with the exhibition « The Grand Expedition: Tara, Art and Science Unveiling the Ocean. » From November 16, 2024, to March 2, 2025, visitors are invited to explore the intersecting perspectives of artists and scientists who have embarked aboard the schooner Tara.

For 20 years, the Tara Ocean Foundation has sailed the world’s seas to study and protect the marine ecosystem. This exhibition highlights the artistic creations born from these expeditions: paintings, sculptures, photographs, audiovisual, and sound installations that capture the Ocean’s beauty and fragility.

The Exhibition’s Four Key Themes

  1. Life: Art inspired by marine biodiversity, from microorganisms to large species.
  2. Pollution: Artistic reflections on the impact of human activities on the Ocean.
  3. Landscapes: Representations of the diversity of marine landscapes, from coasts to the deep sea.
  4. The Sensory: Works exploring emotions and sensations connected to the Ocean.

In addition to the artworks, scientific elements provide deeper insights into the critical issues affecting the Ocean. « The Grand Expedition » thus invites visitors to reflect on our relationship with this vital ecosystem and the environmental challenges we face.
