Therefore, the province continues to strengthen measures for the sustainable exploitation of fishery resources, promote the fight against IUU (Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated) fishing, and resolutely address « three no » fishing vessels (unregistered, unlicensed, and undocumented).
Cà Mau is reinforcing instructions given to border posts to actively coordinate with authorities, departments, branches, and organizations in coastal areas to regularly disseminate fundamental provisions regarding the fight against IUU fishing to local fishermen.
The province is promoting the application of software and the digitization of fishing vessel management records to closely monitor and manage vessels at high risk of violating foreign waters.
Lê Van Su, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Cà Mau Province, stated that the province is concentrating its resources to prevent and eliminate violations of foreign waters by fishing vessels.
In particular, provincial authorities have initiated peak periods, in coordination with sectors and localities, to strictly control the implementation of regulations against IUU fishing; and have intensified measures to manage and monitor fishing vessels more closely in the upcoming period, especially those falling under the « three no » category.
Cà Mau has a fishing fleet of over 4,330 boats, of which 1,550 are 15 meters or longer.
