Throughout the school year, a 5th grade class from Saint-Charles School took part in an educational support program as part of a participatory project linked to the 7th edition of the Educational Marine Areas (Aires Marines Éducatives – AME), in partnership with the Monegasque Association for the Protection of Nature. Prince Albert II attended the final project presentation this Tuesday.

An Educational Marine Area (AME) is “a small coastal marine zone that is managed in a participatory way by elementary school students, following principles outlined in a dedicated charter.”

The idea of creating an AME in Monaco emerged in 2017. The Monaco AME was officially launched during the 2018–2019 school year with 5th grade students from the École des Révoires.

This marine area is located between the floating breakwater of Port Hercule and the Oceanographic Museum. Its perimeter includes approximately 680 meters of coastal shoreline, extending 200 to 250 meters offshore.
